Love is a beautiful thing that allows life to take on a world of its own. Love, although many find it hard to find, is not only between two people in a relationship, but is also found throughout many aspects of life. Without love, this world would not operate the same way nor have the same meaningfulness.

As a child, you begin life with love right there to hold your hand. Parents are the first introduction we are given to love and often help us to form our perception of what the word “love” means. Although love comes in many shapes and forms throughout our life, our parents are usually what our foundation of love is built upon.

Parent, family, and sibling love is probably not the first thing people often think of when they hear the word “love” however. Even though it is the first example of love we get, it is not the one that people often find themselves seeking throughout their life. After you are given the example of love and compassion from your parents, the idea grows until it takes another form found through relationships. There are also many types of relationships in which love is found – including love shown for strangers or friends – but, as we enter into adulthood, the main focus falls to the love we find through our mate.

Relationships are very important for many people; especially if you’re a woman. Not everyone is the same of course, but I know that many women I hear from are always searching for that perfect someone to love them. Love is important in life so it only makes sense that people would seek it out and want to have someone there beside them to love them for the rest of their lives.

“First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage.” What a great example of how love can have an influence in your life. In elementary school, I would often hear someone being mocked by this little song, but looking back at it now, it seems to hold a deeper meaning. Love and marriage are important steps in a person’s life and with the birth of a child, well then you are starting the process all over again by introducing love to your newborn. It’s like a perfect circle of never ending love.

Recently being a bride myself, I know how special that moment of marriage can be. It is the ultimate celebration of the love you have for your partner. Taking a journey through your relationship together, love is a beautiful result of an attraction for each other. You hear a lot from people that your wedding day is the happiest day of your life. For me, I can honestly say that it was. The world around me seemed to change into this magical place with my husband at the forefront of it all. For those who are lucky enough to find love, your marriage is a great way to show commitment to that bond of love.

But what else does love influence in the world? Isn’t it just how two people feel? Well, not quite. The world itself seems to be cashing in on this wonderful feeling of love. Valentine’s Day, the cost of weddings, engagement rings, special dates and outings, as well as other presents for each other are all aspects that come with relationships. Love has always been something special that everyone wants to be a part of and celebrate, so it makes sense that a lot of the revenue of businesses come from elements of love. This isn’t a bad thing though – it just shows that love is able to keep everything moving and alive. Everyone needs an income to be able to survive and love can help to provide this.

Love is found everywhere you go; you just have to open your eyes and look around to be able to see it. Family, relationships, and businesses all rely on love to keep going. Without love, the world would be a harsh place to live in. Love is important to everyone and if we all loved just a little bit more, the world would not only keep going around, but it would be a better place for all.

Francesca & Andrea :: Milan, Italy Couple Portrait Session | Destination Engagement & Wedding Photographer

So I knew Francesca and Andreas through Letizia and Tim who were a couple I worked with for their engagement photos while I was in Paris. Francesca and Andreas live in Milan where it happens to be a stop on my tour map (i chose Milan over Rome mainly because I wanted to see San Siro ^_^), and I’m so glad that I visited. After they’ve seen my work displayed on my website, they became very excited about the photoshoot. Even though the shoot was scheduled the day after their return from Barcelona, the couple got up bright and shiny in the morning to accommodate the session, I was really grateful for that.

The photo session was taken at the Duomo di Milano and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. They were a gorgeous couple and blended right into the elegance of Milan. Their love radiated and easily became the center of focus. I didn’t have to teach them how to pose much at all because this was all natural to them. Every kiss, hug and stare was gravitational and they can’t seem to see anyone else in the world but each other. Haha, I even felt a little shy in front of them. They were animated, beautiful and picture perfect.

It truly is a privilege of mine to work at my job. Not only I get to tour around the world for work, but most importantly, I get to work with wonderful clients like these two and capture their moments of happiness. “Do what you love. Love what you do.” Moments like these remind me why I am a wedding photographer and love being one.

Melinda & Tim’s Wedding – El Adobe De Capistrano – San Juan Capistrano, California Wedding Photographer

Tim and Melinda met through a match maker (aka eHarmony) last summer. After nearly month of phone calls (lasting into the wee hours of the morning) Tim asked Melinda on their first date. An evening of dinner and laughter at Crystal Cove’s Beachcomber in Newport Beach, California turned into talking until just before Tim’s Sunday morning shift at his restaurant. And as all good romance stories go, somehow they both knew that they were both about to begin something very special.

The following week Melinda asked Tim to tag along on a business trip to San Diego. When her work was done for the day they drove to Seaport Village to take in the sights and enjoy dinner in nearby Little Italy. An after dinner stroll along the water ended near the USS Midway museum and they shared their first kiss. Fireworks literally went off in the sky (talk about timing!) and Tim joked that he would never be able to replicate that moment no matter how hard he tried. Neither one of them disclosed that they too were both experiencing fireworks on the inside!

In the months that followed Tim and Melinda began surprising each other with monthly mystery dates. Each time, trying to “out do” each other, they were able to experience many firsts together including a balloon ride over Irvine while listening to The Blind Boys of Alabama, the shark exhibit at The Long Beach Aquarium, Toy Story 3 at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and Melinda’s personal favorite, an interpretative dance recital at UCI. (What a good sport Tim is!)

Both Tim and Melinda recognized early on that God had His perfect hand in orchestrating their meeting, falling in love and mutual interest in spending their lives together. The old cliché it just feels so right rang true and their friends and family shared in their excitement throughout their courtship believing that they are God’s best for one another. It was an answered prayer to years and years of praying that these two souls would be blessed with one life together.

In December Melinda returned from a family Christmas in Sisters, Oregon with plans to spend New Year’s Eve with Tim. She had a sneaking suspicion that he might pop the question but had already ruined the chances of that by guessing earlier that it would be that night. Or so she thought. Tim showed up from work with an hour to spare before the clock struck midnight. Melinda was finishing the touches on a New Years cake she made (A Tiffany Blue Box cake, but of course) and Tim asked her to come join him on the couch to watch the countdown from Times Square. He said, let’s both close our eyes and when we get to 2011 we’ll open them and the first thing we will see is each other. Unsuspectedly, Melinda (for reals…. she thought it might happen on a “picnic” on New Year’s Day) obliged. And the second that 2011 arrived Melinda felt Tim grab her left hand and slip a ring on her ring finger. Girly screaming ensued as Melinda buried her head in Tim’s chest. Tim waited for the squealing to die down and said, Wait! Wait! I need to ask you a question! Melinda lifted her head off his chest and was speechless (for. the. first. time. ever) as Tim said, Melinda Marie Hughie, will you be my wife? It was really happening! The answer she squeaked out was, YES! On 1-1-11 Melinda and Tim became engaged to be married. Melinda just happened to have her camera nearby along with a manicure suited for shots of her new bling. (And what a beautiful bling Tim chose).

Congratulations to you Melinda and Tim.
